I am not sure who still reads this blog as I have not been as consistent as I should in contributing. I may just be journaling to help me express back to God what He has revealed to me this morning.
I have read or heard the Christmas story in Luke 2 read probably 100’s of times over my lifetime, yet God shows that His Word is alive, powerful, and new every morning to those who seek to know Him. Here is what God gave me this morning:
…the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”
16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told. Luke 2:15-21
The shepherds heard and acted
They acted with urgency
They met the Savior
They responded by spreading the word
Mary treasured the words and the events
The shepherds glorified and praised God
My commentary on this passage – These few verses contain a recipe for true joy and building treasures in heaven:
Truly hear the Lord.
Act urgently in response to revealed knowledge.
Know the Saviour.
Share the Good News.
Treasure your relationship with Jesus.
Glorify and praise God.
We have completed a semester at MCA, and I believe our students have been encouraged and equipped to follow this recipe. They will need more nurturing, cultivating and guidance from mature Christians. Parents, that is our calling and you can do that especially during this Christmas break. MCA will continue to partner with you through second semester. Looking forward with hope in God.
