Coach Amy Ausmus

“I couldn’t be more honored to be the High School Cross-Country Coach at Maranatha Christian Academy this year!  I am a former Maranatha graduate, (Gray ’04), and I had the tremendous privilege to run cross-country under Coach Bianca Williams, myself.  She has brought the program so far from when we started, and I can attest, since I was on the very first Cross-Country team that Maranatha started in the year 2000.  We started with only 5 runners, mostly freshman, and laid the foundation for all the former athletes to succeed.  Bianca is a real jewel and such a blessing to all of our lives and I know she is proud and honored to pass the torch to me this year.

At Maranatha, I participated in Basketball, Volleyball, Cross-Country and Track and then went on to run CC and Track for the Warriors at Sterling College.  My running days are sweet memories of competition, team bonding, breaking records and above all glorifying the Lord!  I am a natural encourager and very positive person in life and I loved encouraging my teammates and praying for us all as we prepared to run our hearts out.  My goal as a coach is to do the exact same thing from a mentors’ position and to create not only a love of running but a love of using your talents for Jesus Christ, in all my athletes this fall.  You can plan on many smiles, hugs, high fives, bible verse motivation, prayers, goodie bags, team bonding and many memories made this season.  I am honored that the Lord has called me back to Maranatha, 16 years after we started the first team.  I have faith that He prepared me all along to step into this position after such an incredible journey with Bianca Williams!

Bianca Williams, Coach Bernie Zarda and Sterling College Coach Jack Dillard have all reached out to me with the offer to help in any way that they can.  It is going to be a great year, full of blessings, and I can’t wait!

I currently reside in Lenexa, KS with my son Gunner who is 3.5 years old.  I have my Teaching Degree and currently teach Pre-K at The Goddard School with high hopes of teaching Elementary School at Maranatha in the very near future.  I attend Westside Family Church and have been a Christian since I was 6 years old.  I like reading and educating myself on a variety of topics, I enjoy worshiping and attending church, I love teaching children and most of all I absolutely love being a mommy to my sweet son!  I count my blessings daily and smile for the life I’ve been given.  My favorite Bible verse is Colossians 3:23, ‘Whatever you do, work at it as if you are working for the Lord, not for man, for you know you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward.  It is the Lord Christ you are serving.’”

JH Cross Country

Girls and Boys in 6th-8th grade are able to compete and train for cross country meets each fall. Under the direction of Coach Suzy Manning, these athletes learn what it takes to succeed in the sport of cross country. They are pushed to work hard academically, physically, and spiritual to achieve goals that maybe they did not even know was possible. This is the beginning base for our successful cross country program.
