My love for children started at a very early age. I was given the opportunity at age 12 to work in the children’s church. After a year, I realized that my true desire was to work with the under 5 age group. So at age 13 I started working in the nurseries. At 18, I received my 1st job, working in a day care center, while earning my A.A. degree in Early Childhood Education from KCKCC in ’95.
I have a long time history and love for Maranatha. I attended Maranatha from 3rd – 12th gr, graduating in ’92. I was blessed to be hired on for the opening of Maranatha Kinder-Prep in Aug of ’95. I was here for a year when God led me on to start my own family of 3 beautiful blessings.
It was like coming home in ’04 when my oldest started kindergarten and we have been here ever since. I started volunteering that year, and found myself hired back in Sept ’05 doing an assortment of jobs; bus driver, before & after school care, substituting for Kinder-Prep and Elementary, Kindergarten aid, and office assistant. In Jan. ’08 I became director at our Kinder-Prep Grace Point location for a year and a half, which led to my current position, Kinder-Prep North Campus Director.
I have been blessed to have God in my heart all my life. I was saved at age 5 and He has never left my side. He has always been with me not only through the good times, but especially the tough times. Actually, it is through those tough times when God has proven to me how gracious and merciful He really is. God has shown me how He doesn’t just “live” in my heart, but how a true relationship with Him gets us through those times. I have learned who God is. He is not a cookie cutter God, but a situational God. He loves all of us just the way we are. It’s through those tough times I have learned the true characters of God, and how He is so gracious and merciful to us. If we rely on Him; His unconditional love will get us through anything that comes our way.
I believe in a solid Christian Education and love to be able to provide a warm loving atmosphere where children can learn the principles of Christ & how they are relevant in our everyday lives. It touches my heart to see the kids walking out what our teachers are modeling. They want to pray for each other when they get hurt or when their friends miss their mommies and daddies. I like to see them encouraging other students when they do a good job of listening. We know the foundation starts at home, but it is a blessing to be able to reinforce those beliefs at school and able to teach the Bible while providing the academics. I don’t see us as just teaching our students, but being a blessing to our families.
2Dear brothers and sister, when troubles come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.
