I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies Education in 2011. I then taught Social Studies and Bible classes at Grandview Christian School for four years. I then spent the next two years getting my Masters of Arts in History from the University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC). While at UMKC I taught World History as a graduate history instructor among other academic work experiences. Upon finishing my M.A., I will begin my first year at Maranatha and sixth year teaching. I will be teaching World History, Geography, and 9/10th Bible.
As C. S. Lewis said “Education without values, as useful as it is, seems rather to make man a more clever devil” and “History isn’t just the story of bad people doing bad things. It’s quite as much a story of people trying to do good things. But somehow, something goes wrong.” These quotes represent two reasons I am excited to be working at Maranatha. Here it is possible to teach in a way that Christian values are combined with the study of society to help students understand how our world works, both the well intentioned and the bad. This allows kids to see not only the problems of our world, but how good people can still try to make it better, inspiring our students to make a difference in the future.
Outside of school, much of my free time is spent actively participating in my church, Midwest Fellowship, swing dancing and/or teaching swing dancing to my friends, or with my family.

Psalm 23:1-6

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes
me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life,and I will dwell in the
house of the Lord
 forever.
