I was blessed to be raised in a Christian home. When I was 11 years old, I was watching “Youth for Christ” on television. When the preacher asked, “If you were to die tonight, where would you go”? I knew at that moment that I would not go to heaven, so that night at family devotions I asked Jesus to come into my life and forgive my sins.
I’ve always loved music and working with children so I decided to major in Music Education. After obtaining my degree from Ottawa University, my first teaching position was in Southeast Kansas teaching K-6 vocal music. During my third year of teaching, God used some difficult circumstances to draw me closer to Him and also to bring me back to Kansas City to take a Music Director position at what was then Trinity Christian Center. As I sang with the young children, I quickly realized that I had found my niche. As I continued working there, I was given more opportunities to be in the classrooms in addition to my music teaching responsibilities.
Maranatha took over Trinity Christian Center in the summer of 2002 and I have enjoyed being part of the Maranatha family since that time. I currently teach pre-kindergarten in the morning and direct the after-school care program at our North campus.
But now, this is what the Lord says—he who created you, Jacob, he who formed you, Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the Lord your God,the Holy One of Israel, your Savior…Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you.
