Track & Field
Junior High & High School Track
The Eagle track program has a rich tradition of excellence. That journey begins in 6th grade under the direction of head coach Suzy Manning. The JH teams compete strongly in 7 meets on their schedule with history of some stellar individual and team accomplishments.
The high school program is built on a legacy of high participation and a hunger to excel. MCA athletes hold two individual State records in the boys 3200 and the girl’s pole vault. Additionally MCA has had many other State winners and regularly competes for the State title. The high school teams compete in 8 regular season meets including the Crossroads Conference and then run in regionals.
The program received national recognition for their act of sportsmanship by the 4×800 girls relay team at the state meet in 2009 when the 4 girls willingly gave up their gold medals to a team which had won the race but was disqualified during the their event.
High School Head Coach: Nick Knight
I am a father of two little boys named Abram and Jonah and have the most wonderful wife, Trina. We have only been tied to Maranatha for one year, however, have enjoyed our countless meetings with the families, kids, and coaches through different sports in the past. So much so that we knew this was the school for us. In our free time we like to run, bike, swim and play in the back yard. I graduated from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas, where we currently reside. Our church home is Grace Fellowship EFCA in Overland Park which we have attended for the past 5 years and are active members. A little of my track background: I was a 3a State champion in the 400m dash, which was my preferred race. I was also a two time NJCAA Coaches All-American in indoor track. In college I ran a 21.9 in the 200m, 48.12 in the 400m, and a 2:00 flat in the 800m. I also High Jumped 6′ 4″ and Long Jumped 21′ 6″. I feel extremely blessed to be a part of Maranatha and look forward to many years to come as the track and field coach.
