MCA Summer Camps

We are excited to share with you our new options for Summer at Maranatha!

You will find a menu of options below with details for each session and a button to pay for each. You may pick and choose which sessions you would like to attend but you pay for each session you choose to attend.

Please understand we need a minimum number of students to enroll for the session to take place so please REGISTER EARLY!!!!

The deadline to register for each session is the Monday before the first day of that session! All sessions are held at MCA’s North Campus, 15000 W. 63rd St, Shawnee, KS.

Crafts Galore

with MCA teacher Ms. Harrison

THIS SESSION IS OPEN TO K-6 GRADE CHILDREN FROM 9:00-12:00.

Please note this is at North Campus MPR.

Students will use their creativity to experiment with varied materials and use self-expression all while learning about different crafting processes.

Kids will make crafts using string art, recyclable materials, wood, leather, paint, and more!

Each day they will come home with a craft they have made, to be cherished forever!

Chess Club

with The Knight School

THIS SESSION IS OPEN TO K-6 GRADE CHILDREN FROM 1:00-4:00.

In this kid-centered session, kids are taught every cool trick, strategy, opening, and tactic in Chessdom!

The Knight School is a revolutionary, party-based approach to chess and has had amazing success- winning multiple state championships-because of the unique and unprecedented educational philosophy.

Bricks4Kidz

Worlds of Amusement Park LEGO® CAMP

THIS SESSION IS OPEN TO K-6 GRADE CHILDREN

Get your ticket to ride at Bricks 4 Kidz very own Amusement Park!

Campers will build new rides each day, learning how to make things spin, roll, turn & rock! Then they will take what they have learned to design their own thrill and challenges.

Motorized models maximize the action and fun. Each camp day includes carnival-themed games,3- D figures, model-building and more!

All kids will bring home a personalized mini-figure at the end of the week.

Ancient Art!

at Maranatha Christian Academy

Explore the ancient cultures of Egypt, China and India as you create art in many different mediums!

This session is taught by Kim Bogart (art teacher at Corinth elementary 20+ years)

Dance Camp with Academy of the Arts

at Maranatha Christian Academy

Grades TK – 1st grade: Fairytale Tea Party (9:00-10:15)

Dance: This camp includes a dance lesson to delightful princess songs followed by a proper tea with cookies. All dancing will be done in comfortable clothing and bare feet–no special shoes require.

Dance Camp with Academy of the Arts

at Maranatha Christian Academy

Grades 2 – 6: Campfire Frolic (10:30-11:45)

Dance: This camp is based on your imagination! We will learn dance moves to camp songs and finish with a fireside snack! All dancing will be done in comfortable clothing and bare feet–no special shoes require.

Baking!

with MCA's Crystal Fortin

One of our most popular sessions! Please note this is at North Campus MPR in two (2) sessions base on student grades.

Session 1 meets from 9:00am-12:00pm for Kindergarten-3rd grade. Session 2 meets from 1:00pm-4:00pm for 4th grade-6th grade.

Students will learn:

to measure items correctly both liquids and solids,
to read a recipe,
to correctly use proper utensils,
to be safe when baking, and to clean up properly.

Students will come home with a homemade treat each day!

Cooking!

with MCA's Crystal Fortin

Follow up Baking with Mrs. Fortin with Cooking! Please note sessions are at North Campus MPR in two (2) sessions based on student grades.

Session 1 meets from 9:00am-12:00pm for Kindergarten-3rd grade. Session 2 meets from 1:00pm-4:00pm for 4th grade-6th grade.

Students will learn:

The importance of making healthy food choices,
To read a recipe follow and prepare a recipe,
Kitchen safety and food preparation skills,
To learn to work as a team.
To taste new foods!

Students will come home with a homemade treat each day!

Week 7

Life on the Farm

with MCA teacher Ms. Harrison

Ever wonder what life is like on the farm?

Come spend a week with Miss Harrison to find out! Students will learn about farm animals, crops, and how a farmer provides for so many things that we use in our every day lives.

We will explore thinks like how milk (and ice cream!) is made, where our food and clothes come from, and the technology that is involved.

Plus, there might be some LIVE animals for kids to interact with. Who wouldn’t want to pet a fluffy cow?!?!

Drawing Class

with Young Rembrandts

Young Rembrandts offers art classes for kids at MCA

The drawing classes offer child-friendly and relevant subject matter to spark interest and increase knowledge retention. Students are exposed to a wide variety of subject matter, artistic concepts, art history and mastery of their materials.

The classes are built to be fun, but children who participate in Young Rembrandts increase overall academic skills, fine motor skills, social skills and confidence.
