ORU Student Dies in Romania
An ORU student died while on a mission in Romania.
20-year-old Alexis Nichole Brownlee had been in Medias, Romania, for nearly a month when she died on June 16th of a seizure.
She was doing mission work as part of her studies at Oral Roberts University.
Alexis was expected to graduate from ORU soon with a major in Theology and a minor in Spanish.
According to her father, Timothy Brownlee, Alexis was doing evangelical dramas in street fairs and teaching English to orphan children.
In fact, Mr. Brownlee told KTUL.com that Alexis had picked up Romanian so quickly that she was able to translate for her fellow mission workers.
“Few people ever accomplish exactly what they dream of, or are called to do,” Mr. Brownlee said. “Fewer still give the ultimate gift to the orphans she always wanted to serve and help. She died on the mission field giving her life away for others.”
Alexis was born in Merriam, Kansas, and graduated from Maranatha Christian Academy in Shawnee, Kansas, in 2009.
